Self-defense

...refers to the avoidance and defense against attacks on a person's mental or physical integrity.

Before a physical attack occurs, it's crucial to employ self-assertion techniques. By being aware, using appropriate body language, and setting verbal boundaries, fights can be avoided. If all of this fails and you are still attacked, you must defend yourself! Here, too, it's important to remember that many perpetrators seek an easy target and will abandon the attack if the victim is able to defend themselves.

In the seminars, we learn fundamental principles and simple techniques designed to help you:

  • Assess the situation
  • Defend yourself (scream, kick, hit, don't give up)
  • Call for help / involve others
  • Protect yourself
  • Hit/distract the attacker
  • Escape
  • Run away

Training takes place with a partner and on striking pads, so you'll have the confidence to throw powerful punches and kicks. We rotate partners as often as possible during exercises so you can practice in a wide variety of attack scenarios. Depending on the length of the seminar, different attack situations will be practiced, for example:

  • Holding onto the wrist/arm
    Strikes
  • Grasping/choking
  • On the ground, against a wall/corner, while sitting
  • One or more attackers
  • Etc.
